Mauna Kea Resort encompasses Mauna Kea Beach Hotel (Autograph Collection, 252 luxury room property) and the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort (249 room property), plus two world-class 18-hole golf courses, Mauna Kea Golf Course and Hapuna Golf Course, located on the Big Island of Hawai’i. Nestled for more than 50 years along the Kohala Coast, amongst lava rock and oceanfront, Mauna Kea Resort has grown to meet business demands, while maintaining respect for the community and environment. Radius is working with Mauna Kea Resort to implement a Corporate Social Responsibility platform and Roadmap to Sustainability. Several activities we've engaged in include the review and recommendation of the use of beneficial insects to reduce pesticide use, introduction of biodegradable golf balls with a fish food core to protect ocean life, and advocacy with legislators, the community, and local university, including third party review of data supporting ocean health and the protection of coral reefs. Mauna Kea Golf Course was recently recognized by the Golf Course Superintendents Association and Golf Digest, as the recipient of the Environmental Leaders in Golf National Award for a resort course, reinforcing Mauna Kea Resort as a leader in sustainability within the Marriott International brand portfolio.
